Photo Top Tips

When choosing your photos it is best to pick photos that are taken at a distance.

You also need space above and at the sides of the head - at least 1.5cm space.

We have worked with different photos printed at either 10 x 15cm or wallet size 9 x 6cm depending how many people are in the photo.

We have listed below some different examples to show how different photo sizes and how close the people are to the camera work (or don't work)

Ones that don't work - Taken too close

This photo is too close up to be able to use, even when shrinked down to a 9 x 6cm (left) there isn't enough room above and then also your standard 10 x 15cm (right) the head is too big.

Single Person Photos

This single person photo printed out at 10 x 15cm makes the face too big to fit in the frame so we printed this one at wallet size 9 x 6cm and it now fits perfect as you can see! So if there is only one person in the photo you may need to print a smaller sized photo to get it to fit the frame correctly.

Multiple people in one photo at varying heights

This sort of photo is ideal as you can print it off at your normal 10 x 15cm size twice and then use each childs head from each photo for the frame.

If you wanted both children in the frame you could make the photo smaller to approx wallet size and print 9 x 6cm and they would both fit in then.

Long distance photo, lots of head height, and also varying heights of the people in it are ideal photos to use.

Long distance/ multiple people same height

With a long distance photo with 2 people or more at the same height you can either shrink the photo down to wallet size 9 x 6cm to get more of them in the photo, or you can print the 10 x 15cm for a more close up photo for the frame.

Leave them blank or paint them up

As we mentioned and you can see in the above photos you can leave our frames blank wood or you can paint them up.

Here are some more that I did to show how great they look painted!.

These are done using our Crafters acrylic paints and then finished off with our Americana gloss spray. These are all also available on the website.

Photo coverings

Our frames come with no photo covering which is absolutely fine and you can leave the photos uncovered which lots of people do, but if you are thinking you may like to cover the photo with a little something then we have found the perfect thing.

In the photo below it shows acetate sheets which can be cut to size using the wooden photo sizer as before like we did with cutting out the photo, this can then be fixed onto the top of the photo with double sided tape.

*TOP TIP* be sure to use a tiny square piece of tape in the corners and use it on a dark area on the photo if possible so its not visable.

You can buy these acetate sheets from ebay.

We also have a new pet paw design available!

You can find this one on the website by clicking HERE
